🌐 What's a Domain Name, Anyways?

Imagine the internet as one huge city full of houses. Each house has its own unique address, that’s how you find it. Well, a domain name is kind of like that address, but for websites!

For example, our home on the internet might be mymundo.com , easy to remember, right? Without domain names, you’d have to type in a long string of numbers called an IP address (something like 192.168.1.1 😓). Not very fun, huh?

So, when you type a domain name into your browser, your computer says, ā€œHey, where’s this website’s house?ā€ and the internet’s directory system (called DNS) helps it find the right spot.

šŸ  In short:

  • A domain name is your website’s address.

  • It makes it easy for people to find you online.

  • Without it, we’d all be memorizing boring numbers. No thanks!

So whether it’s for your blog, business, or cat fan club, your domain name is how people find your corner of the web.
